Hannover Fair provided ideal platform for latest Tsubaki chain developments

Launching a raft of new product advances to a broad industrial audience at the Hannover Fair in April, confirmed Tsubakimoto's leadership position in the chain and power transmission market.

Satisfying a key industry concern, Tsubaki demonstrated that it is continuing to integrate good environmental performance into its application development. According to Tsubaki marketing specialist, Sebastiaan Huisman: "Our products are used in a very diverse range of installations across the complete industry spectrum but fundamentally our customers all share a common interest in improving the workplace environment and conserving resources."

"From Tsubaki's point of view, meeting the needs of the environment can not be achieved with bolt-on extras, it has to be built into product design and it has to be done in a way that means what is good for the environment is also good for business."

This was evident at Hannover where Tsubaki presented superior performance products that consume less energy in operation and that deliver longer working lives with little or no maintenance. A key example of the company's work in this respect is its ongoing program of improving the fatigue strength of its chains, a property exemplified in its Super Chain. Designed for tough applications, as its name implies, the Super Chain Series of products provides outstanding strength and endurance, and permits up to a 30% increase in allowable load.

Together with Super Chain, other new product developments exhibited included Tsubaki's DP Roller Chain, which features a chromium-free, unique double surface treatment. The development of this groundbreaking, double-plating coating technology for Roller Chain delivers unrivaled corrosion resistance to protect carbon steel in harsh industrial environment installations. Also presented was X-Lambda Lube-free Chain, with extended wear-life performance achieved through the introduction of an oil impregnated felt seal between the inner and outer link plates. And, an innovative lube-free series of Bearing Roller Conveyor Chain that combines superior performance and energy efficiency with a long working life and is entirely maintenance-free.

For those seeking significant noise reduction in the working environment Tsubaki offered SN (Silent/Noiseless) Roller Chain. Utilising the company's unique spring coil roller, SN chain can deliver a reduction of between six and eight decibels compared with standard roller chain, in addition to improving productivity.

Complementing these developments was an expanded family of Tsubaki Cam Clutches that meet the needs of a broader range of application shaft diameters, as well as offering new features. Central was the latest series of Lift-Off clutches, which offer interchangeability with competitive equivalent types.

"Because Hannover is the largest industrial fair in Europe and draws visitors from all sectors of the market, each of our products drew its own special interest audience," says Huisman. "And, although the international situation resulted in fewer visitors to the show this year, down from 244,000 to around 200,000, the quality of visitors to our stand was very high. In fact, the value to Tsubaki of participation in this event has already led us to secure space for Hannover 2005."
